R/D - Elephant

On this rainy Easter Sunday in the northeast US, we here at SYNTH have only one post today, but it's totally worth it. R/D's new track "Elephant" sounds exactly like the name implies, absolutely massive. Brutal electro chords and leads are only matched by supreme vocal chops and destructive wobbles. So sit back, enjoy the bass, and we'll be back tomorrow with Monday Video Madness!

Oliver - MYB

A-Trak's Fool's Gold record label lays claim to multiple super-talented artists hailing from the cutting edge of EDM. DJ-duo Oliver is one of them with their diverse neo-funk sound that has proven to be an exciting direction for dance music. Their recently released EP featured four stellar tracks, but certainly the track with the most attitude and funk was "MYB" (you'll see what it stands for). "MYB" is one of those tracks that only gets better as it progresses, so give it a nice long listen, and get funky.

Weekend Liftoff

We here at SYNTH want you to enjoy your weekend as much as possible, so every Friday, right here on our blog, we're gonna post FIVE songs that are absolutely 100% FREE to download. Some old, some new, some you've never heard, the one common trait is that they are absolute bangers. So let us help you make your weekend one filled with good music and good times.

Featuring:
EDITORS PICK:
Disco is alive!! Tell everyone! Solidisco shows us that the classic genre is alive and well with their uplifting track "Never Let You Go"
House mainstay Djuro brings a little progressive to the liftoff with his track "Two Faced"
As if we didn't love "The Drop" by Bro Safari enough already, MUST DIE! gives us his stellar remix
Miami's rising star Dallas K shows us what's up with his track on Kindergarten Recordings, "Flight 315"
Duelle provides us with their single "Your Addiction" which can only be described as Krewella-esque

Morten Breum - Larva (Far Away) (Pegboard Nerds Remix)

Never ceasing to deliver quality tracks, Pegboard Nerds are at it again with their new remix of "Larva (Far Away)" by Morten Breum. They perfectly blend melodic leads with the catchy vocal track, all the while never sacrificing their hard hitting sound you would expect. Not newcomers to the world of EDM by any means, it's no mistake that this tune will be playing in your head throughout the day. Their remix is released alongside an extended version of the original, which can also be found on Beatport. Given the unrelenting spree of bass fueled tracks they have put out lately, we can only guess as to what the Scandinavian duo will surprise us with next. Be sure to visit their Soundcloud for free downloads and more great songs!

Rudimental - Feel The Love (Kill Paris Remix)

Corey Baker, better known as Kill Paris has been on a bit of a hot streak so far in 2013. A relative unknown a year ago, the young producer from LA is on a mission to deliver you his "future funk" sound and remind you that there's more to dance music than 128 BPM mega-hits. After the great success of his debut EP on OWSLA a month ago, he follows up superbly with an emotional remix of "Feel The Love" by Rudimental. Sticking to his now signature funk sound that incorporates elements of electro, dubstep, and house, Baker hits the nail on the head with this stellar remix. Best described by the artist himself, he calls the track "love making music," so give it a listen, and maybe involve someone special. *wink*

Knife Party - Power Glove (Spaveech TRAP Bootleg)

With an increasingly impressive lineup of remixes under his belt, it's no surprise that Spaveech brings out the big guns for his newest trap bootleg. The young producer perfectly incorporates a wealth of knife party samples in this hard hitting track. Never restricting himself to genre, his fusion of electro trap should be an indicator of why his fan base is rapidly growing by the day. You can get this song as a free download (along with the rest of his tracks) if you like his Facebook page so show him some love! Expect big things to come from this kid as the year goes on. Also, check out one of our recent favorites by him, his bootleg of Cedric Gervais' remix of "Summertime Sadness."

Deorro - Yee (Free Download)

After recently dropping some remixes that the term "banger" can't do justice, Deorro gives us a brand new original track for free. The LA producer has been churning out hits without any sign of stopping and the fast paced "Yee" gives us one more reason to be excited. Released under his PandaFunk Records label, Deorro is constantly using creative samples and innovative vocal chops, while never losing his signature sound. It's absolutely worth your time so download it below!

Be sure to tune in for his Panda Funk Radio show tonight (we're sure the lineup will be posted later today) at 9PM (6PM PST) on Oribitradio.fm on Channel 1.  And be sure not to miss it every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Release: Dillon Francis - Messages Feat. Simon Lord

Dillon Francis, moombahton innovator and internet celebrity very rarely dissapoints. He exceeds expectations again with his brand new track "Messages" released today featuring Simon Lord's vocal talent. After several trap releases, it's good to hear another purist moombahton track from Dillon, whose sound is truly maturing. For his first landmark vocal track, he fires on all cylinders with this exciting release, so give it a listen dammit.

Release: Leo Pigot Feat. Millet - Electric Sun

French DJ/Producer Leo Pigot is back again with his second release of the month, "Electric Sun." Showing even more of his musical prowess by taking on the dubstep genre, he demonstrates exactly why he's a featured artist here at SYNTH. Vocals reminiscent of Pendulum are backed up by crushing wobbles and riffs in this dark track. Give it a listen and buy it below!

Monday Video Madness: Avicii vs Eric Turner (Tom Hangs Remix)

Avicii has been a household name for roughly a year now thanks to the incredible success of "Levels", but long before that track and before the name Avicii, he went by the alias of Tom Hangs. Avicii revived his former ego with the 2012 remix of his collaboration with singer Eric Turner. A catchy and emotive tune with powerful vocals, it's a track that instantly screams Avicii. The video is a clever lighthearted and humorous story that pokes fun at itself and the song like many of his previous videos. Definitely worth more than one watch (tons of cameos), unless your a robot that has no emotions.

Porter Robinson Live Set from UMF 2013

Porter Robinson has a massive year ahead of him with the release of his debut full length artist album upcoming, and he showed everyone at Ultra this year why they should be so excited for it. Lucky for all of us who couldn't make the trip, Porter has made his set available for free on his soundcloud for all of us to lose our minds to. Porter hits us with classics like "Unison", "The Seconds", and "Say My Name" alongside his current hits "Easy" and of course "Language." Better yet, he played tons of unreleased material from his upcoming album, so sit back, listen, and enjoy.

Dzeko & Torres vs Crossways - Togi

One of the tracks that made many Ultra sets all the more epic, Dzeko and Torres' "Togi" is a certified dance floor bomb. Sampling the legends of rock and roll (Led Zeppelin, "Immigrant Song") was a unique and interesting choice that paid off in dividends in the end for the young artists. The Monstercat label has recently become an absolute beat machine churning out new hit tracks almost every week. Their continued success is evident here with "Togi."

Get it here:

Release: Ellie Goulding and Madeon - Stay Awake

Both of these young artists have had considerable impact on the rise of global dance music and anyone who recognizes that would also agree a collaboration between them would be nothing short of incredible. 18 year old wunderkind Madeon complements Ellie's sweet soaring vocals with an undeniably catchy drum and bass melody that makes the experience all the more uplifting. This track is an absolute must hear for not just fans of EDM, but fans of music in general.

Release: Ummet Ozcan - Here & Now

Keeping up the incredible pace he has already set with tracks like "The Box" and "The Code", Amsterdam resident Ummet Ozcan delivers another high-energy massive track titled "Here & Now." Falling into the realm of EDM we like to call "Subwoofer Mandatory," the track is a minimalist's dream with an absolutely earthshaking low end. Combine that with Ozcan's signature glitchy rises, and you have an incredible track for both festivals and nightclub dance floors worldwide.

These guys seem to be continually on a hot streak. Their recent collaboration with Ummet Ozcan, "The Code," has already become a staple of house sets at Ultra and surely for the rest of the summer. Armin van Buuren gave us another taste of what W&W has in store when he dropped this track last week during his set at Ultra. The opening chord progression builds on Trevor Guthrie's vocals to create an incredibly uplifting progressive house track. We're hoping we will get to see some of their set tomorrow on the live stream since we weren't able to make it down to Miami, but hopefully some of you reading this were! Regardless, make sure you don't miss this when it drops on April 5.

SYNTH Featured Artist: Leo Pigot

France has given us legendary game changing artists like Daft Punk and Justice, and current superstars such as Martin Solveig and David Guetta in the past two decades. So when someone with the extraordinary talent  that Leo Pigot has arises from somewhere with such an esteemed reputation already, the EDM world takes note. Not one to be shackled by one genre, Leo has had success in almost every genre in EDM. That is why we here at SYNTH sat down with the young DJ/Producer to find out more about who he is as an artist.

SYNTH: Hello Leo! First off can you give us a quick introduction to yourself? (Age, hometown, etc etc)

Leo Pigot: Hey man, here we go! I'm from the south of France, now 26 years old living in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I was mostly only DJ'ing in Paris until i started producing 4 years ago. Now i'm resident DJ to some Hypster parties in Russia and am going to be touring the US starting at WMC in Miami.

SYNTH: Sounds like you've certainly come a long way Leo! Who would you say your biggest musical influences are?

Leo Pigot: I guess it's a mix of everything. 10 years ago i was a huge techno lover (Ellen Alien, James Holden, Gui Boratto), then I started to love the basslines more and more. As a good patriot, I always loved Daft Punk. But my sound is closer to Mord Fustang according to many people, however I also try to have my own unique sound.

SYNTH: We can see the similarities with Mord Fustang, but you definitely have a very distinct sound of your own. Since you mentioned them, Daft Punk is one of our all time favorite artists here at SYNTH. Are you as excited for their new album due out this spring as we are?

Leo Pigot: Yeah they have been in the dark for too long and EDM music has changed, but I am sure they will come out with something fresh. Their sound doesn't need to follow the fashion, it is timeless!

SYNTH: We certainly agree! You mentioned you're going to be doing a US tour, have you performed in the US before or will this be a first?

Leo Pigot: Feeling like a virgin girl, my first time in the US ever!

SYNTH: Hahaha excellent Leo! What city are you most excited to perform in over here?

Leo Pigot: MIAMI of course man, but i'm also hitting Boston and I think it will be a good time!

SYNTH: You're definitely going to enjoy both cities! What artists (whether in dance music or another genre) would you love to collaborate with in the future?

Leo Pigot: I think it is a bit unreal right now haha, but knife party would be awesome.

SYNTH: Now that is something we would LOVE to hear! What can we expect from you in the near future production wise? (Any upcoming EPs singles or remixes)

Leo Pigot: I have my best releases coming this month: Monday March 18th with "Rockslaves" (Look at facebook.com/LeoPigotOfficial) on Bugeyed Records and on March 25th, "Electric Sun". Those tracks will show my new musical level and they are just crazy!

SYNTH: We anxiously look forward to those releases and will certainly be sharing them with our readers. You've also garnered praise and support from some pretty big names Leo, what's it like to have support from artists such as Tiesto and Lazy rich?

Leo Pigot: It is fabulous, and something you can't predict, just one day you see feedback from Tiesto saying "quite a good tune", and it makes not just your day but your entire week.

SYNTH: That sounds incredible Leo! Do you any closing comments or just something you want to tell our readers?

Leo Pigot: I want them to love my new EP coming in March and to check out my old tracks if they haven't heard them, like "Discophobia" or "Maria Antoinette." Because they are two tracks that even if I produced them and spent countless hours in studio listening to the same snares and bassline, I can still listen to them without wanting to kill myself :)

SYNTH: Well Leo, it has truly been a pleasure. Thank you so much for your time and you are as fun to talk to as your music is to listen to! We'll see you stateside friend!

MUST WATCH: Hardwell's Incredible Live Set from UMF 2013

A few years ago, Hardwell might have just been that young up and comer who did "Zero 76" with Tiesto, but now his name has become synonymous with the term "best ever." His performance this past Saturday at Ultra Music Festival in Miami is simply put one of the greatest ones this festival has ever seen. The intensity of Hardwell is only matched by the massive crowd gathered to witness the epic performance. Filled with absolute bangers through and through, amazing mashups, brand new originals, and some tracks you might not expect, there are no words I can write in this post to fully describe what Hardwell accomplished. You need to watch for yourself.

Editor's note: Hardwell's performance at Ultra was so good Saturday, that the entire SYNTH staff immediately decided to see him at HQ Nightclub in Atlantic City, NJ the following evening. Hardwell took control of the decks at about 1:00 am, and absolutely destroyed the brand new nightclub for 2 and a half hours playing his entire Ultra set and then some. It says a lot about Hardwell as a DJ and entertainer that he put festival caliber effort into a Sunday evening nightclub appearance.

Monday Video Madness: Diplo - Butter's Theme ft Gent & Jawns

Known for his absolutely ludicrous music videos whether for Diplo tracks or Major Lazer ones, his new video for "Butter's Theme" is no different. Visually stunning in it's own right (and not just because of the women), we can safely bet you'll watch this video multiple times. Make sure you watch the entire video, because like Diplo's music, it only gets crazier as it goes on.

Release: Leo Pigot & Rinat Crone - Rockslaves

French producer/DJ Leo Pigot has added yet another incredible track to his arsenal today alongside Rinat Crone. "Rockslaves" is a thrilling glitch-hop track sure to make any crowd move their feet. Leo continues to showcase his superior ability for composing dance-worthy melodies in any and all genres of EDM. His take on glitch hop is one of his best outputs yet, and is already on heavy rotation here at SYNTH.

Also, look for our exclusive artist spotlight interview with Leo to be posted tomorrow

Daft Punk 3.15 Announcement?

This week in Austin, Texas many posters like the one below were spotted across the city which is also the locale for the SXSW festival. Could a surprise Daft Punk show be in the works? Most likely it's just another rumour as a result of the unrelenting Daft Punk hype machine, but we will let you know if anything materializes today. A new single off their new album would make perfect sense seeing as their 4th LP is due out this May, but when it comes to Daft Punk, nothing is ever certain till it happens.

Posters that popped up this week in Austin and some other US cities

To hold you over, here is an incredible mashup of the Daft Punk 15 second teaser and JT's "Suit and Tie" by The Hood Internet.

UPDATES
It is confirmed that Thomas Bangalter (1/2 of Daft Punk) has been spotted in Austin this week

With ULTRA starting today, this track from Henrix is sure to be a heater that will certainly make it's rounds in multiple sets. Avicii - Diplo and Friends Guest Mix

Showing the EDM world that he's so much more than that guy who made "Levels", Avicii took guest mix duties on Diplo and Friends last week to showcase an absolutely incredible cross genre mix. Featuring artists such as Justice, Kanye West, and The Temptations, it stands as a true tour de force of his mixing ability. You may have assumed he knew something about soul music based on his previous vocal samples, but no one could have expected this. Listen for yourself and be the judge.

Free Download: Hasta & Koschy - Melancholy

We haven't forgotten you drum and bass fans! Today we have an incredible DnB track, "Melancholy" by Hasta & Koschy. Although on the lighter side of the genre, any enthusiast would agree it's a spectacular experience. Graceful pads surrounded by the addicting percussion and excellent chord work make this track a must hear.

BORGEOUS - Rags To Riches

LA's Borgeous has already had an electric start to 2013 with two highly praised singles "From Cali With Love" and "Gangsterous." Now he's back with his 3rd production of the year, "Rags To Riches." Keeping with his tradition of using popular hip hop vocals over his productions, this time he samples Jay-Z's "99 Problems." He describes his sound as "blast-worthy" and that seems to be more than a fitting description. Oh and best part yet, it's FREE.

Cedric Gervais & Borgore - Deception (Radio Edit)

We recently posted about this team-up we've been excited about and although it won't be released until Monday, Cedric Gervais has posted the radio edit of "Deception" for your listening pleasure. Starting out with catchy house chords that swirl and progress into a gritty drop, Borgore's heavy influence makes this song a keeper. Continuing to prove he can hold his own outside of the dubstep arena, there's no doubt Borgore has a few more tricks up his sleeve.  It would also be wise not to overlook Cedric Gervais, who is undoubtedly on a path of continued success. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled on Beatport when this officially drops on Monday!

"Never Let Go" has vocal support from James Darcy and will be sure to gain momentum as it makes its way onto dance floors around the globe.  Also worth noting, her track "Spring Valley" is a chill downbeat tune that is nothing short of stunning. The overall strength of the EP is what makes this release a must listen and evidence that we will be seeing much more of Dinka in the future. Release: Hard Rock Sofa - Rasputin

Russian EDM icons Alexander Shapovalov and Denis Chepikov, better known as Hard Rock Sofa, are no strangers to producing massive dance floor destroying tracks. They have most certainly done it again with their release today on Axtone records titled "Rasputin." With the tracks epic buildup and brutal main section, the prospects for this track making a vicious run at the coming festivals is very bright.

Monday Video Madness: Dillon Francis - Bootleg Fireworks (Burning Up)

If you're a fan of things that are absolutely ridiculous, then you will need no convincing to watch the video below. In true Dillon Francis fashion we have a video for his track "Bootleg Fireworks" that is not only extremely well done, but downright hysterical. Sampling countless other videos from past and present while super imposing his cherish grin, this production is a perfect representation of what Dillon is all about, and it's absolutely hysterical.

Music Video Release: Porter Robinson & Matt Zo - Easy

Rarely does a music video capture the essence of a track as well as this one released yesterday for Porter Robinson's collaborative effort with Matt Zo, "Easy." Just as this song was a departure from what would be considered standard or typical, the theme of the music video is a very similar notion. Our protagonist escapes the cultures that surrounds and imprisons her and finds a place that can only be described as "Easy." Animated like a traditional anime, this video is a more than worthy follow up to "Language."
